🎵 Weekly Banger 6/9/25

Wind Blows by Bone Thugs N Harmony

Wind Blows by Bone Thugs N Harmony
The first 3 weekly bangers were songs from 2001-2005, but now we're gonna jump ahead to the magical year 2007, the year I graduated high school! I remember how all the music that came out around then, especially hip-hop, just straight up sucked! That was my opinion then. 2006 had especially bad tunes (Laffy Taffy) which is probably why I barely gave 2007 a chance.

Fast forward to this past weekend and Ben and I are cruising down the street and he plays this little lost gem 💎 (No official music video exists for this song, but if you find one PLEASE let me know!)

▶️ Listen again > Wind Blows by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

If you know Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”, you’ll catch it right away — that iconic bass line and haunting melody running under the track. Bone Thugs take that classic rock foundation and weave their rapid-fire flows and harmonies over it, creating something that feels both nostalgic and brand new at the same time.

It’s one of those collabs you didn’t know you wanted: the soulful, timeless energy of Fleetwood Mac paired with Bone Thugs’ lyrical storytelling and signature melodic rap style. The contrast works because both groups know how to tap into emotion — Fleetwood through their raw, earthy instrumentation, and Bone Thugs through their layered voices and rhythm.

The result? A track that hits across generations. It’s a song you can play around your mom, your older cousin, or your friends, and everyone’s nodding along for different reasons. It bridges rap and rock without watering down either, proving that genre lines are made to be blurred.

Give it a spin. Let the past and older past collide, and ride that bass line like the wind itself.

3 Honorable Mentions

1. Thuggish Ruggish Bone - "We're not against rap. We're not against rappers. But we are against those thugs."

2. I Tried ft. Akon - A soulful song about hard life in the inner city.

3. Bone Thugs-N-Homeless by Key and Peele - "We're so hungry.. we'll eat a bone"😜

Okay, obviously not a real song, but still hilarious! I love Key and Peele

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is one of those groups where if we didn't have them, our hip-hop and rap today would look a lot different. So many artists have mimicked their flow and melodies, but like Sex and the City's Samantha Jones's ex-boyfriend hockey player turned drag queen says, "imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery".
